Graduates

Senior year is such a momentous and significant time in one’s life. Documenting this milestone with professional photography is one way of ensuring that you never forget this moment in time. I truly enjoy getting to know each senior and love personalizing their session to incorporate hobbies, passions, and interests that are unique to them. Let’s make your session fun, personal, and memorable!

Planning your session

If you’re from Northern Michigan, you know of its many different landscapes and backdrops, in addition to the weather changes!

Choosing your portrait location is often one of the most exciting parts of planning your photo session.

Let’s work together to decide on a location that is meaningful to you.

If you’re looking for a traditional style, I have a studio.

The possibilities are endless!

  • Your location plays a relevant role in determining the coloring and depth of your senior portraits.

I love the Old Mission Peninsula, Downtown Traverse City, and Lake Michigan. The changing seasons offer a beautiful way to set a unique tone and mood during a session.

  • Let’s explore the three “T’s” of photography session attire!

    TRENDY

For one of your outfits, choose something trendy, such as a 2-piece pantsuit with a crop top, a romper, or fun accessories. Including a pop of color like heart-shaped sunglasses can be fun. This is your chance to take risks and be bold with your outfit expression.

    TIMELESS

This is the outfit where you would want to include neutral colors, like black, white, and shades of gray. If it’s warmer out, you can opt for a little black dress or a black t-shirt. If it’s cooler, I recommend pulling in pieces like scarves, hats, coats, and suits. This “T” is more about the color scheme and pattern of the fabric, which, in order to remain timeless, must be selected to accentuate you, not to stand out on its own.

    TRUE TO YOU

Lastly, be sure to include an outfit that is unique to your style, hobbies, or personality. This can include school uniforms, sports uniforms, and/or an item that represents where you're headed next. It’s so important to use the opportunity of being in front of a camera to capture not only your look but also your personality. This is another chance to take risks, but this time it’s more so to showcase your lifestyle, not just your personal style.

  • A NOTE ON PLANNING YOUR TIME

When you’re planning "getting ready" time before your session (scheduling your hair, makeup, etc.) please give yourself a lot more time than you think you'll need.

Make sure to account for things like traffic, getting lost and parking, so you can prevent unnecessary stress.

Plan to arrive a few minutes early to your session and be ready to start on time.

Any photographer knows the importance of light when capturing clients, which can change by the minute! Be sure to keep this in mind when preparing for your photo session day.
